NTWAM’s Active Participation at the WMO RA I Capacity Building Webinar (25th March 2026)

On 25th March 2026, the NTWAM Water & Environment Initiative, represented by its Executive Director Prof. Preksedis Marco Ndomba, actively participated in the WMO Regional Association I Capacity Building Webinar – a continental forum convened by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in partnership with IWMI, IAHS, and UNESCO. The virtual forum brought together National Hydrological Services, universities, research institutions, NGOs, and development partners from across Africa to advance operational hydrology capacity.

Prof. Ndomba, formally nominated by Tanzania’s Ministry of Water, delivered a presentation on behalf of the country’s training and research institutions. He outlined Tanzania’s operational hydrology landscape, identified systemic gaps, and proposed the Tanzania Operational Hydrology Partnership (TOHP) – a three‑tier coordination mechanism designed to align curricula, pool equipment, and institutionalize research‑to‑operations pipelines.
